Since you all come here and read my ramblings, I owe it to you to ask you this: do you all enjoy reading this blog as is or would you prefer it to be a more serious blog commenting on the state of Egyptian affairs?
I mean, I realize I may come accross as a very self-interested person, but in reality I do care a lot about what’s happening in my country. Swine flu hysteria (gotta love the CityStars people walking around with facemasks), succession thoughts, what it means to have a draft law upping women’s seats in the People’s Assembly, etc. Thoughts?
noooo… dont change a thing!
if we wanted a political analysis of life there and its goings on, we would travel to those boring politcal blogs.
its much more interesting to get a view on life, the things you see and tidbits about egyptian culture.
dont change a thing!
Although I rarely comment, I love reading your blog and comment section. I love it as is, but I am also interested in more serious posts in which you comment on what is going on in Egypt. Go with how the spirit moves you.
I like what you’ve got to say, regardless.
actually i enjoy it as it is, also it is ur blog, ur space, u should write whatever u like to write about but thanks for asking
I’m with Raaasa. Egyptian culture is so unlike my own that I find it interesting to read about. I would welcome more serious posts, but I do enjoy reading the blog as it is now. I think you should write what you need to express, whether it seems banal or deep.
“boring politcal blogs”
Yeah, even when those people fight they are boring. No kidding.
Write political stuff when you feel like it. Write personal stuff when you feel like it. I would read both.
The thing I love the most about blogs is that they’re so random, so unorganized. The word “blog” doesn’t give meaning to what’s written or labels it.
When I started a blog in 2003 people thought that blogging was only limited to political and human rights activists which was to some extent true at least in Egypt but throughout the past 5 years people actually started to use blogs to write about everything and anything and it was and still is amazing. You should just write whatever comes to your mind, whether it’s politics, economics, random thoughts, or even about a subway ad you saw and found interesting. I’d read it if it was good, if not I’ll just skip this particular post.
I love your blog, just the way it is
I like your blog as it is. Being a foreign women living in Egypt, it is actually nice to read how an Egyptian woman thinks/feels about things. I often feel I’m being given the “company line” when I ask some Egyptian women questions (of course this may be because I’m with my husband) Your blog seems very open and honest.
We come here exactly for your “rambling”. Because that is what interests us – how you see Egypt, the world, life in general. Write what you want, as long as it is sincerely what you think. Don’t start trying to be “educational” or “smart” just to please us.
Nope…don’t change a thing..love it the way it is : )
Hii there!
I found your blog, and I couldnt stop to reading it
You sound so interesting and intelligent, besides your way to write is very nice and funny, I would like to know you or talk to you one day!
Hugs!
Thank you all begad for your feedback. Khalas, ramblings will be the way from here on out. Sometimes I will be smart, but most of the time I will be self-obsessed
Keep on being “self-obsessed” . . . why else do a blog?
As for “swine flu”, I keep hearing that ppl in egypt are now afraid to come to the States . . . hmmmm, not like we are dying in the streets here. . . I live in Texas and we haven’t had that many cases here. I think ppl did panic a bit at first but more of us are talking about how HOT it is and how high our electric bills will be due to the a/c cranking all the time. I think we are spoiled in that regard. Oh, more worried about economics too . . . if I lose my job i won’t have the money to pay my electric bill, lol, or travel to egypt!!
i love reading your blog because it at least gives me another perspective to the egyptian way of life as compared to the one i was having when i was living there with hubby, who’s family is based in kafr el sheikh. he’s masry, i’m malay australian. i’d wish i had come across more egyptian bloggers like you when i was there to have not felt so lonely or different, especially with the way of thinking and lifestyle.
Thanks Nur. And if you’re ever back in Egypt, drop me a line and we’ll meet
you blog is fab!:) ive learnt so much from reading ur enteries, am feeling more egyptianified by the minute
To be perfectly honest, I think your views on politics would be as boring as your reflections on yourself.
It’s pretty obvious why you are the last of your friends to marry and it has nothing to do with your fattractiveness.
Ouch. Tab leh keda bas. If you don’t like, don’t come. It’s as simple as that.
